Henderson Sponsors the Colonial Knights

The Colonial Knights 12 and under baseball team was excited to play in the 12U Nations Tournament the weekend of June 29th and 30th.  But at the last minute one of their sponsors was unable to support the team and it looked as though the boys wouldn’t be able to participate.

Henderson is proud to announce Vice President Leslie H. Schultz is part of the LEAD Historic Triangle Class of 2013. LEAD Historic Triangle's mission is to encourage, develop and support future community leaders.

Henderson Sponsors Local Angel Tree

Henderson and its employees embraced the spirit of the holiday season and generously donated monetary gifts and new clothes, jackets, shoes, and toys for two Williamsburg, Virginia area families.

The families, one with two boys and two girls girls ages 1 – 8 years old, and the other with three boys ages 1 – 12 years old, received the items on Friday December 14th.

Henderson, Inc. 17th Annual Woodcut

Saturday November 17, 2012 Henderson, Inc. participated in our 17th annual woodcut to support our local Williamsburg community. The woodcut is an event where employees and their families spend a day splitting, loading, and delivering firewood to local families in need. This event is always held the Saturday before Thanksgiving as Henderson’s “Thank You” and opportunity to give back to the community. Over the years we have delivered more than 350 loads of wood to local families in need and shared in great team-building experiences.

United Way of Greater Williamsburg 20th Annual Day of Caring

On Friday, September 14th, Henderson participated in the United Way of Greater Williamsburg’s 20th Annual Day of Caring.

The Day of Caring Kick-Off started at 8:00 am at the United Way’s office in New Town . Volunteers met at the check-in tent for breakfast, photo-ops and getting to know everyone involved in making things happen.

As part of the Day of Caring, Henderson was able to assist a neighbor agency with a project that would not normally be completed for lack of money and manpower.

Henderson Shops with Bright Beginnings

Several Henderson employees volunteered to be “shopping buddies” for the R.F. Wilkinson Family YMCA’s Bright Beginnings program on Thursday morning, August 23rd. Bright Beginnings is a community outreach program that provides disadvantaged children with the fall/winter clothes, shoes, and school supplies needed to start the new school year with confidence and pride.

Henderson enters team in Vineyards of Williamsburg 5k

Henderson entered a team of 10 people in The Vineyards of Williamsburg 5k on Sunday, August 12. Proceeds from the race benefited Child Development Resources (CDR), a United Way partner agency.

The scenic 5k course went through The Vineyards of Williamsburg. Henderson’s team was comprised of seasoned runners, leisurely walkers, and first time 5k participants. A fun time was had by all while promoting Henderson’s Wellness initiative.

Stone House Preschool Field Trip

Henderson, Inc. was happy to welcome children from Stone House Preschool in Williamsburg, Va. for a field trip on May 9th and 10th. The field trip was a part of their transportation and construction themed learning during the month of May.

Leslie H. Schultz and Her Involvement in the YMCA

I have had the privilege to serve on the R.F. Wilkinson Family YMCA Board of Directors since 2007, however my experience with the YMCA started much earlier than that. My first memories are from the 90's when Henderson, Inc. was selected as the General Contractor on our first YMCA project. Over the last two decades, Henderson has built numerous YMCA projects and more importantly prospered many friendships and long lasting relationships.

Henderson and its employees embraced the spirit of the holiday season and generously donated monetary gifts and new clothes, jackets, shoes, and toys for two Williamsburg, Virginia area families.

The families, one with three girls ages 5 – 12 years old, and the other with two boys ages 5 – 12 years old, received the items on Thursday, December 22, wrapped and ready to go under the tree, just in time for Christmas!
