Quality of life isn’t just about how you live life in the good moments. It’s just as much about how you face the tough times. Hospice House & Support Care of Williamsburg offers care to terminally ill patients and their families so that they can maintain their quality of life with dignity and peace through the end of their journey.
At Henderson, Inc. we value the work of Hospice House and its volunteers. That’s why we’re putting on our walking shoes for the 4th Annual Hike for Hospice walk and fundraiser. A Henderson team, along with many others, will tackle the two-mile walk at Park East in Governor’s Land on April 23. Registration is $35 per person. Hikers also collect donations from sponsors as part of the event.
Funds raised go toward providing up keep at the Hospice House facility and maintaining operations. Services include respite and end-of-life care either in the Hospice House home or through care at a patient’s place of residence. There is no cost to families or charges to insurance.
This year more than 160 terminally ill patients will be admitted to Hospice House and up to 30 home caregivers a month will receive respite support services. More than 800 bereaved family members will also receive support through Hospice House following the death of a loved one.
We’re walking in memory of loved ones, in honor of those struggling with a terminal illness and because we believe in the beauty of helping someone transition gracefully through the last phase of his or her life.
The important work this nonprofit does is critical to our community, which is why we’re giving back to an organization that gives so much to us and our neighbors.
